“Baseball”

Today I am practicing lighting techniques using DIY lighting that I made from Home Depot. This is my first try of what I assume will be many subjects using my new lighting, which in all cost about $24 for two lights. (This particular shot is a one light setup with a reflector)

Below is the “behind the scenes” setup of the shot. I will make a post soon of how and what I purchased for lights. One thing to note is that the only way to adjust the power of these lights is distance from the subject. I shot this and all test shots tethered to my laptop in manual mode with manual focus.

“Sweetness”

“Eaten”

This is my first real attempt at a food shot. This was all done using natural light from a window and a roll of white paper.I tethered my camera to my computer via USB and then set the shot up and used the Lightroom 3 tethering feature to adjust the shot. Not bad for A first, but I wish I had some lights! Time to save up. I am accepting donations if anyone is interested!

Today I decided to play around a little more with my SoftBox Pro app on my iPad. I liked the outcome of these two shots and thought the names were appropriate.

I set-up my computer and increased the backlight so that the logo was bright. I then set-up the iPad running SoftBox Pro parallel to the computer which then made color cast onto the cover of my computer. Basically I used the iPad as a gel to cast the color.

“P is for Plumbing”

Not every shot is going to be glamourous—this day was filled with an unexpected plumbing project that sidetracked me.

“Wishing I was There”

Today was a day that had crisp cold air with powder snow—very similar to what I remember Breckenridge, Colorado felt like when I last skied there.

“Cocoa”

On a snowy winter day like today, a little hot cocoa is all you need to warm you up inside.
